It seems that Unbound Creations enjoyed developing games about mischief. After the well-received Rain on Your Parade , where players were asked to ruin people’s days on behalf of a cloud, they took on a sequel, but with a new hero – a young crow who has just flown out of the nest. And since the work of the proud crow family must continue, yesterday’s chick is sent into adulthood with only one instruction: help the forest animals, and in return they will teach you the wisdom of life! True, no one specified that all the help would be reduced to bullying people … But what can you do, Just Crow Things , such are the crows’ affairs!
A world of possibilities
Piloting a crow is a bit more difficult than a cloud, and the controls are clearly “tailored” for a gamepad — here you need to control the flight altitude itself, and the direction, the dive, the release of “shells” (yes, there is such a button), and sometimes even the use of objects. But in other respects, the games from Unbound Creations are very similar — the cartoonishness and humor are preserved, the models and sounds are the same. Only the main character has changed — the crow can be customized in the same way, although you won’t be able to draw its face by hand.
In a special menu, you can change the croaking tone, skin, clothes, and even a hat – all of this can be found on levels or earned for completing quests. Isn’t it cute?
The system of passing will also be familiar to people who spoiled the parade with rain. There is no open world – the whole game is divided into quite large and diverse zones. Here you have a magical forest, and a camp on the lake, and a desert, and a crowded market, and even a cursed mansion. And although the crow’s abilities do not change, interacting with the world does not get boring – thanks to the different atmosphere, conditions, quests and numerous references to both famous franchises and smaller games, like Tricky Towers or Hatoful Boyfriend .
In the desert, sandstorms rage, between which you need to maneuver, in the city you can poop on cars and steal hot dogs right from the hands of passers-by, and in the mansion you will have to play out the plot of Ghost Master , driving out the uninvited guest with scary sounds. Quests are also entertaining – a squirrel constantly loses children and asks to collect them all over the map, a hedgehog does not like parties and crowds of people, and other animals are bothered by smoke from a fire. Of course, you can do mischief of your own free will, but only completing quests will help unlock new locations and move along the plot.
The tasks are so simple that it is impossible to fail them – there is an unlimited number of attempts, and reloading the level helps with bugs (quest items can be dropped behind textures). I only had difficulties with time trials, but if you get the hang of it, you can dive and take aim right on the fly, like a real, adult crow!
Clearing the map, completing races and quests rewards you with points. You can always look at missed quests and collectibles from the main menu to return and close the gestalt.
Armed and dangerous
While the crow may not have the same abilities as the cloud from Rain on Your Parade (and it could not only water people, but also shoot lightning and throw snow), its abilities are much worse – it is a real bioweapon. Simply shitting on people’s heads would be trivial, so our hero can get effects from food: chili peppers help to give a real fiery salvo, stinky food accelerates the great power of gases, after eating ice cream the crow will surround its victims with a block of ice, and some treats increase the amount of “ammunition”.
And the crow also has a beak in which it can hold small objects… And not only hold…
Despite a number of vile deeds that I had to commit on behalf of the crow, I did not feel remorse – the bird with a gas burner in its beak looks too cute … And the atrocities do not lead to anything completely terrible – after an air attack, people just scream and run away headlong. The pleasure here lies in the general chaos: after “cleaning” the level, cars will lie scattered by cows on the street, instead of the pharaoh, a cat now wears a fashionable hat, mice steal food with a squeal, and the culprit sits on the roof and croaks contentedly to cheerful music. Just do not think that all the crow’s deeds are necessarily nasty: it is also capable of good deeds! Sometimes …

Just Crow Things is a cute and charming game that can first win you over with its appearance, and then with its humor. Compared to Rain on Your Parade, it looks and plays much more pleasantly. The colorful, stylish and dynamic game does not require any special skills and simply tells a funny story with a bunch of references. There is nothing to even scold it for.
Pros : charming humor; the crow can be dressed in a bunny hat and can also hold a gas burner in its beak; various locations with lots of activities, unique atmosphere and mechanics; many references that are nice to notice; the ability to return and “vacuum” each location at any time.
