Following the intense reactions, Community Manager “magazine2” from Gaijin Entertainment clarified the situation by commenting on the post. He stated that the visual in question was a part of the explosion effect package used and that they used it without knowing that it was footage of a real disaster. He also shared his sincere apologies to the players.

“Hello guys, we accidentally used an explosion image of the Challenger disaster in one of our main images. Please accept our most sincere apologies. We had no idea that this image was a real image as it was part of the air explosion effects package our design team used.

“We will change this image as soon as possible and take precautions to prevent this from happening in the future.”

Following this incident that took place on June 23, the topic was closed in the forum.
